The Stuff to Scrap Designers came together to create this charity collab to help bring home a little boy named Brady. Shelby, of Jenasis Design, is friends with the family that is trying to adopt this precious little boy. Below the previews of the kit, you will find information that Shelby has posted about Brady and the family who is trying to share their home with him.

This kit is not just any ordinary kit; it is for an amazing cause and an amazing little guy that needs a family, a home, and someone to love and care for him. The Hartman family, are in the process of adopting the sweet boy below. They feel called to rescue this little boy "Brady" from a mental institution in Eastern Europe. Because he has Downs Syndrome, Brady was abandoned at birth, just like the majority of children with any sort of disabilities in Eastern Europe and other parts of the world. lt is standard procedure when these children turn between 4-6 years old (depending on region) that they are transferred from Orphanages to full blown Mental Institutions. This transfer is very traumatic, and many times these children suffer and sometimes die due to the conditions. Brady has already been transferred and The Hartmans are trying to get to him as quickly as possible. So I told this sweet family that I would ask the girls at "Stuff to Scrap" to Help!! The cost of this adoption is well between $20,000- $30,000 and so we just want to be able to contribute a little toward that huge amount. The amazing designers at "Stuff to Scrap" have put together an awesome collaboration that can be used to donate to this great cause. All proceeds from the sell of *Brady* goes directly to the Hartman's adoption fund.

What is Hope for Haiti

Have you noticed the Hope for Haiti button on the sidebar over there <---------? Well Jenny has put some hard work into Hope for Haiti and I will let her share with you what it is about.

Hi, I'm glad you are here. My name is Jenny Buttler and I own Simply Delightful Designs, a small-ish website and blog design company. I live in Corpus Christi, and I am a mother of three. I created Hope for Haiti very quickly in hopes of spreading hope. I have been a big follower of Compassion.org and have read about missions that other bloggers have taken and have always been so touched.

When I heard about the recent earthquake in Haiti, I cringed. I knew that there were many Americans down there right now volunteering. I lay in bed at night wondering if there was anything that I could do to help, even in a small way and God gave me the idea for Hope for Haiti. It may not be much, and I'm not sure how successful any of this will be - but when you have nothing, a little bit can mean a lot!

All money raised from the raffles on Hope for Haiti will be donated to two organizations - The American Red Cross and Compassion.org. These are two organizations that are very close to my heart and I hope that you can and will take part in what I hope will be a very exciting and heart-warming fundraiser.

I have been getting items and/or services donated, and each item will be listed individually on Hope for Haiti. Money saving tip.

Mason Jars are great to have on hand. They make great inexpensive vases for centrepieces. Flowers from the supermarket are also fairly inexpensive. Just get some bouquets split them up and place a few stems in each mason jar and you have an instant centerpiece. And if you like, tie ribbon or raffia around the neck for an extra touch. These centerpieces work well for many parties. We have used them for baby and bridal showers, retirement party, in memory of party and more. You can say that we have definitely gotten our money's worth from our Mason Jars. About 10 bucks for a case of 12 and when you are done just clean and dry and place back in the cardboard case to store for next time.

Starting December 14th and ending December 18th.

Each $10 donation to the well earns one virtual ticket. SERIOUSLY YOUR $10 WILL CHANGE LIVES. You get to choose how many "tickets" to buy and which prize package you want to win.

Descending Dove Heart Earrings

DIY Thanksgiving Corn Favor Box

Here is a quick and simple project to do with the kids.

Supplies
paper towel roll
bubble wrap (we used inside of a bubble envelope that was mailed to us.)
raffia
yellow paint & paint brush
green tissue paper
small candy or items to fit in the paper towel roll (we used Reese's Pieces because of their festive fall colors.)

Cut paper towel roll into 4 equal parts. (Or less depending on how you like it.)

Put a coat of yellow paint on the bubble wrap.

Roll the paper towel rolls over the wet yellow paint on the bubble wrap. Try not to go back and forth.

They will look someting like these below.

Gather the green tissue paper and put it in the roll as pictured.

Open the tissue and fill center with candy or other small items.

Tie raffia around the tissue to close.

And there you have a simple little corn favor box.

And the kids made these fun little turkeys using the simple instructions here.

My Insulated Tumbler with Drip-Less™ Straw Seal is perfect for on the go! I love the fact that if I knock this cup over in my car it will practically not leak! Avoiding a big mess! ~~And getting yelled at by my husband!~~ Yeah! The lid keeps everything nice and secure inside. And the large size of it is great too! I use this almost everyday!

My 1 Gal. Pitcher is another favorite. A classic in my family as I pretty much grew up drinking Mom's sweet tea out of one of these. Now I make Mom's sweet tea about once a week (or almost daily in the hot summer) and the large size of this pitcher holds plenty for everyone throughout the week.

These Snack Cups have so many uses! Perfect for on the go for yourself or for little ones. I actually use mine for my kids vitamins. Besides the daily chewable they also get gummy vitamins. I stuck on a scrap booking letter sticker so they know which one is theirs and daily they eat their cupful of vitamins!

Another of my daily Tupperware products is the Sandwich Keeper I use it to pack my kids lunch! Better than throwing away a plastic bag every time you take a sandwich! Good for the environment! Yay! I don't have a picture of it because I am actually taking advantage of the lifetime warranty on that one and getting it replaced. That's right I said lifetime! Tupperware is guaranteed for life!

Proud of my brother's weight loss success!

Hi everybody! I know this is a bit of a long post but I just wanted to share my brothers inspiring story of determination and great weight loss. The all natural way! It will be worth your time especially if you struggle with weight yourself.

For as long as I can remember my younger brother David has been heavy and over weight. And I will admit I even remember picking on him and calling him names because of it. (Oh don't worry, he got in his fair share of picking on me too though! We are only 2 yrs apart.) As we grew up and became adults the picking on him turned into concern. I worried about his health because at his weight it was a health concern. I prayed that he would find a nice girl to marry. A girl that would see through the weight and see the Dave I know. I would pray that besides all of the extra weight God would keep him healthy.

Well, Dave did find a nice girl! Jen has been by his side through the hard work and determination and countless baked/grilled chicken dinners. And she is here to share his story. But first I want to say Dave I am so proud of you and I love you and I am so happy that you have lost so much weight and are now healthier because of it!

Now here is Jen and the rest of this post is in her words.

David has taken persistence and self-discipline to a whole new level. David decided in March 2008 to lose weight. He weighed in at around 420 lbs. He started w/ Weight Watchers and lost 60 lbs. in 6 mos. He met Trainer Tom in Sept. '08 and has transformed his body. In one year w/ Trainer Tom Strongin, David has lost a total of 150 lbs. He was 357 lbs. last Sept. 15th, and today, he weighs in at 207 lbs.

The following is a photo journey of Dave's transformation w/ his words of encouragement, emotions, and mindset to reach this goal!

Dave, before making the decision to change his life and lose weight. Yet, we still were a happy couple! Dave thanks me for believing in him, but most of all, for not giving up in prayer. I prayed daily starting in April '06 when he began to pack on weight after our wedding. I did not believe it was God's will that my husband stay obese and die young from heart disease or diabetes. I prayed and prayed & knew God would do a work in Dave's heart for the sake of him and our family. The more Dave refused to go to the gym, the more I prayed. And then one day, Dave came home to tell me he would be starting personal training. Let's just say there were tears and a super grateful heart towards what God did in my husband's heart. "With God all things are possible"...Matthew 19:26

Dave w/ Daniel - July '07 - 420 lbs. Daniel 5 mos. old. Our first family vacation. (Just got to mention....our son is such a cutie!!!)

Dave - October 13, 2007 - 420ish lbs. Making the decision to lose the weight was the hardest thing he had ever done, but the pain had become greater than the pleasure! He had a disorder in his feet (plantar fasciitis) where it was just agonizing to stand/walk. He was always complaining of lower back pain, tired, and didn't get very good sleep. He made the decision to lose the weight before he was prescribed high blood pressure medicine, which he was on his way to.

Here's Dave, Christmas morning 2007, still around 420 lbs. This was Daniel's first Christmas. His desire for his son to NEVER know him huge helped Dave decide to make the commitment!

Dave - Christmas morning 2008 - 304 lbs. (Weight loss of 123 lbs. here.) At this point he had been working out with his trainer, Tom Strongin, for 3 mos. and had lost a total of 63 lbs. with Tom. (He lost 60 lbs. in 6 mos. on Weight Watchers, but what he did in 6 mos. on his own, he did in 1/2 the time w/ Tom.) Go Dave!

Dave - Jan. 3, 2009 - 297 lbs. Dave says that he has experienced the pain of being heavy & extremely obese in the physical, mental, and spiritual sense. This experience is so fresh to him and he wants people to know that they can overcome their battle w/ their weight! You can reach your goals! (If you never try, you'll never achieve it!)

The NEW & IMPROVED DAVID!!!! Pic taken Wed. Aug. 26, 2009 - weighing in at 214 lbs. w/ a total of 206 lbs. lost in 1 year & 5 months. Beginning waist size: 48, waist size today: 34. He's shrunk from a 4X t-shirt (that was starting to get snug) to an XL. And some XL shirts are starting to get baggy on him! THANK YOU TOM STRONGIN FOR THE YEARS OF LIFE YOU ADDED TO DAVE'S LIFE!!

Here's Dave flexing his long lean muscles! Aug. 2009 - 214 lbs. Dave told me that his trainer Tom told him in the beginning (9/08), " I can see the skeletal structure under all that weight. If you could only see what I can see, you would see an athletic stud".....and that's just what Dave is becoming! (Thank you Tom for my super hot husband!!!)

Dave - 214 lbs. No, he's not sucking it in. He's standing up straight. He works out 1 hr./day, Mon. - Fri. and does extra cardio most of the time. Wow Dave! Dave lost the 204 lbs. the "ALL NATURAL, NON-SURGICAL, LIFESTYLE CHANGED" way! (The Tom (Team) Strongin way.)

How much hotter can he get! That smile, those eyes, the dimple, the spiky hair, and the goatee. He still wants to lose about 15-25 lbs. And Tom Strongin plans to see him through to the end.

And here is the final pic of Dave I wanted to add. He's planning to go deer hunting in September and this will be his getup, he plans to hike around the mountains for 6-8+ hours. Lord knows he is in shape to do this hunting trip. I think this gun weighs 7 lbs. unloaded, or something. He's in such great shape!
Because of Team Strongin/Trainer Tom Strongin, David now understands the importance of nutrition and the power of personal training. David remembers thanking Tom for all that he has done for Dave, and Tom replied, "It's you that has done the work". In John Maxwell's words: TO BE MORE YOU HAVE TO BECOME MORE; IN THE MIRROR YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE PROBLEM & THE SOLUTION.

"Thank you Tom for believing in me and pushing me. And thank you God for the strength to conquer my old lifestyle of food addiction."

Dave trains at a local Body Xchange ph #: 661-477-5004 w/ Tom Strongin, Mon. - Fri., 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. and follows a strict diet plan w/ a food log. Dave is dedicated to expanding his lifespan and being strong and available to his family.

On Friday, September 11th, 2009, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States. Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this eighth anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail.
Action Plan: So, here's what we need you to do.

(1) Forward this email. Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11. Honestly, Americans should fly the flag year-round, but if you don't, then at least make it a priority on this day.

DIY - Wedding Favor - Sand Dollar Magnet

Remember this photo below from this post? Well we decided to make wedding favors with the sand dollars we collected at the beach! And wanted to share how we did it!

1. Place all the sand dollars in a bucket and add water and bleach to get them nice and white. Use your judgement how much bleach to use. You will notice them start to whiten as you pour in the bleach. Let soak for about 1 hour. You can do more or less time as needed, just be careful not to let them soak too long or the bleach will start to deteriorate the sand dollar.

2. Rinse the bleach off of the sand dollars and then let dry. They will not all turn white so be sure to collect extra.

Materials:

Sand Dollars

Magnets

Industrial Strength Glue

Organza Bags (sold here)

Favor Tags (we made ours on our computer)

3. Place a small dab of glue on the magnet.

4. Place the magnet on the center of the back side of the sand dollar and apply a small about of pressure.

6. Allow glue to dry and place the sand dollar in the organza bag. Add a favor tag and tie the bag closed.

I think the reason I like to give favors for any and all events I host is because I love getting them! They are either pretty or fun and always so exciting to get. Like a little present just for you! Through all the hard work and planning that went into such an event, the host/party giver remembers you the guest, with a memento from the special day!

Though favors are not mandatory, they are a nice way to add a special touch to your event!

DIY - Homemade Jam Favors

Jam makes excellent wedding favors! What do you think? Wouldn't you love to receive one of these at a wedding?
I made the wedding tags on my computer, used a jumbo hole puncher with scallop edge to punch them out ( just regular paper). Then I made a matching fig jam label for the top, this one is printed on card stock. I made it larger than my jar lid so I could trace around the lid and cut it out. These are 4oz. jelly jars. I cut strips of green scrap booking paper about 3/4 inch wide and long enough to fit around the jar. I used double sided tape to stick the green strip to my jar. I then used double sided tape to stick on my wedding label. I placed it right over the seam on the green strip to hide it. Next, I removed the outer ring only of the jar lid (not the sealed inner lid) taped down the fig jam label with a rolled over piece of scotch tape and placed the lid ring back on. You don't have to tape the top label down but I found that it moved as I tightened the lid if not. And there ya go a perfect little favor! And very affordable when making the jam yourself!

This jar was such a perfect little model I just couldn't stop taking pictures! The great thing about using scrap booking paper is the fact that the selection of available paper is enormous! You could make these in any color or theme to fit your needs! Like Christmas! Just customize your label too!

How About This - Hawaiian Style Reception

Some friends recently had a Hawaiian style birthday party for their daughter and it was amazing! If you are planning a wedding reception with a Hawaiian theme and you are in central CA, you must see this! This hall comes already decorated for your getaway theme event! As soon as you walk through the doors you feel as if you have landed in paradise! Look!

You first enter the eating area where all of the tables are set for your meal!

On the other side of the hall through the door way you will find an awesome bar area that is fully stocked!

Here is a picture of my drink! Doesn't it look yummy! Well it was! But don't worry it's just fruit punch! Hee...hee....gotta have drinks for the kids too!

But if you are not the dancing type that's fine too! There is tons of seating and lounge areas right next to the dance floor so you can see all of the action!
