DIY Wedding Favors - Wine Bottle Stoppers

At Favors With Love we like to share ideas that we think might be useful to others. One inexpensive and heartfelt way to add favors to your event is to actually put the blood, sweat and tears into them and make them yourself. I really like the antique/vintage look of this one!

Materials:
wine cork
decorative drawer pull
craft drill
screwdriver
decorative metal initial (found in the scrap booking section of craft stores)
thin wire-edged ribbon
card stock
hole punch
oval punch or scissors
Steps:

1. Drill a hole in the center top of the cork; make sure the hole is slightly larger than the stem of the drawer pull.

2. Use a screwdriver to insert the pull until secure.

3. Punch an oval of card stock or cut an oval by hand. Punch the oval with a hole punch at the center top.

4. Attach a metal initial backed by the card stock oval to the wine stopper with either a thin piece of wire ribbon or a scrapbook metal curlicue. Curl the wire-edged ribbon's ends.

How About This - Tea Theme Shower

Be it for Bride or Mommy to Be, a tea theme shower is classic. And with spring flowers in full bloom and that nice spring breeze, what better time to have a nice garden tea party. We all loved playing tea when we were children, dolly and bear all circled around even brothers army men were there. Now that we have grown lets continue this pastime with real family and friends as we celebrate the showering of the guest of honor. Favors With Love has collected just a few tea theme ideas that we would like to share.

Serve Jordan Almonds in Vintage Teacups via Real Simple
Original purpose: Sipping Earl Grey.
Aha! use: Start your own custom and place candy-filled, vintage teacups at every table. (Or use them for favors if you can find full sets at flea markets or eBay.)
Reward: A simple and personalized dash of style.

Here is a neat idea for centerpieces for your guests tables. Arrange flowers in a teapot, and give them extra height by standing the pot on a cup. From Rachel Rey.

This candle idea comes from Martha Stewart. Use tea cups that are missing their saucer to make candles. These can be used as decor or they would make a great shower game prize.

The invitation is the very first clue of what your event will be like. Set the feel with these nifty tea theme invitations. Don't you just love the hand made nature of these
invitations? We found these on etsy, one from Peas and Thank You's and the other from Cotton Candy Creations .

And what about favors? Ahh our specialty! Send your guests off with tea inspired favors that will surely remind them of your tea theme event. Tea favors are available in a large variety and many of them are actually very useful. Teapots that are kitchen timers, infusers and actual teacups and saucers. Some of our favorites are pictured below. Stop by Favors With Love and have a look at our tea favors and see what sparks your interest.
Even if you are not in the works of planning a shower, I bet you want to have a tea party now!

Shannon C. Hoffmann (another contributor to the forthcoming book, Famous Family Nights) worked as editor of an award-winning, nationally circulated trade publication while raising three sons alone. After ten years as a single mother, in 2008 Shannon married the love of her life, Ken, and added three more children to the family to complete their “Brady Bunch.”

Shannon wrote and edited under the pen name Shannon Amy Stockwell for over five years—compiling a broad portfolio of published work for six nationally circulated trade publications devoted to recreation, playground, and lifestyle on local and national levels. Shannon edited Playground magazine for approximately four years, winning an international 2008 Apex Award of Publication Excellence in the Most Improved Journals and Magazines category. Easter Theme Gifts

Take a look at a few gifts and favors that go along perfectly with Easter.

“Love Ewe” - So plush and huggable, this little lamb and lovie blanket is sure to go wherever baby goes, because baby will simply love the softness of these comforting friends. A squeezable, cuddly chenille lamb—just the right size for baby’s tiny hands—smiles sweetly at the new little one. Baby can hold this little lamb in one hand and the matching 13 ½”-square lovie blanket , embroidered with “Everywhere that baby went, the lamb was sure to go” on the satin trim, in the other. This delightful gift set is machine-washable and arrives adorably packaged in a sheer, ivory organza bag with a satin-lined base, all tied with an imprinted, satin ribbon that repeats the phrase appearing on the lovie blanket. Twice the fun for baby!

Byzantine Cross Cookie Cutter - Known for their ornate features and artistry, the Byzantine-style cross dates back to the Roman era. And this time honored symbol makes the perfect addition to a First Communion, Baptism, Easter, church function or any religious occasion. Each cookie cutter favor measures 3” x ½” x 2 ½” and is made of sturdy metal. Sure to remind your guests of the special day they shared with you, each is packaged in a clear box with a colorful stained glass design background, tied with a silver elastic string and attached thank you tag. Add a centuries-old symbol of Christianity to your celebration with these Byzantine cross cookie cutter favors.

Baby Chick Salt & Pepper Shakers - Is someone “eggs-pecting?” How “eggs-citing!” Here’s an absolutely adorable favor certain to spice up any baby shower and give your guests an “eggs-ceptional gift” to take home. The “About to Hatch” Salt & Pepper Shaker is a “cracked” ceramic egg with a pale-yellow, chubby-cheeked chick—wearing the top of the egg as a hat—peeking out at the world. Salt shakes from the top of the little chick’s “hat”, while pepper sprinkles from the bottom part of the egg. Just the thing to give your shower a little something “eggs-tra!” The showcase gift box says “Grade A” on the back and “About to Hatch” on the front. Accented with a delicate organza bow and an egg-shaped “For You” tag, the gift box measures 2” x 2” x 3”, and the shaker measures 2 ¾” high x 1 ¾” in diameter.

Kitchen Egg Timer - How appropriate for the baby shower! For the mom who is about to give birth, this “About to Hatch” timer is a clever reminder that works fabulously anywhere. The egg-shaped timer twists at the bottom to countdown any interval of time from one minute to 60 minutes. Packaged in a clear round gift box, the charming timer is showcased from every side. Guests can’t help but love the charming design details, from the "Grade A" sticker near the top to the two hens guarding an egg which reads “About to Hatch” on the base. The box is then complete with a sheer white organza ribbon and tied with a matching egg-shaped gift tag reading "For You!". Approximately 3" x 3".
